(Miss Panchewa Sirimeatanon, Miss Mango Tree Under the Sea 2018) |
It is now the 17th year of continuous support by the Mango Tree Thai Restaurant's management to the LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning, Intersex and Asexual) community, especially for the Transgender women. Once again this year its most awaited ladyboy prestigious event in London, United Kingdom was held. It is an annual beauty pageant which is cordially supported by the Mango Tree itself and boosted by its advertisers & sponsors on the web. On the very night of the event, it was warmly attended by admirers & supporters; enlivened by guest performers/artists and the show was assessed by members of the jury at the restaurant's home at 46 Grosvenor Pl, Belgravia SW1X 7EQ.
Last Sunday night, the mild atmosphere at the Mango Tree came alive when fresh aspirants and dogged candidates took over the centre stage with their statuesque pulchritude; sybaritic figure and immediate levels of comprehension in the Question & Answer portion. Amongst these were 9 flamboyantly gorgeous Transgender women who dominated the attention of spectators when the Drag artiste' hostess, Cookie MonStar, called them onto the stage for the extravaganza of their “Under the Sea” costumes. The theatrically lavish ensemble of Miss Panchewa Sirimeatanon from Thailand exceeded the other costumes (though they were spectacular, too) and earned her The Best Costume title.
We were bedazzled by their modernised flashy costumes and more so, when we saw them individually in their swimsuits. During the swimsuit round, the coquettish Miss Chummy Soco from Republic of the Philippines beat the rest of the candidates and won the The Best Body title.
That was a sizzling round and we were then enthralled by the fantastic Drag Queen, Shae G'Day, with her repertoire performance. Subsequently, Cookie MonStar acknowledged and introduced the man behind the Mango Tree Thai Restaurant, Mr. Eddie Lim, on stage.
The welcome speech from Mr. Eddie Lim gave more time for the candidates to change into their colourful long gowns.
They were all graceful and glamorous in their body clinching glittery gowns during their individual manifestation on stage. However, most of us were surprised when Miss Panchewa Sirimeatanon from Thailand emerged from the opposite side (for the 2nd time) of the stage. You could say that was her lucky break as it drew attention to her entrance. Thereafter it was revealed, chosen by unanimous vote, who the top 5 candidates were. They then proceeded onto the final stage of the beauty pageant.
The fearless unlucky candidates left the stage while the top 5 remained for the most anticipated picayune Question and Answer portion.
The tabulation of score sheets from the jury needed extra time and care. That is why, we were singly buoyed by the resolute performances of Mr Fabulous, Jay Kamaraz, and the Drag Idol 2015's 5th placer contestant, Shae G'Day.
What a belting voice and a charmingly emote musicality by both. After their applauded performances, last year's Miss Mango Tree Queen, Miss Alessandra Mae, was called on stage for her farewell walk.
The high spirited top 5 candidates gathered again on stage with the jittery anticipation of winning the coveted Miss Mango Tree 2018 crown. Without further ado, the unanimously decided “Under the Sea” runners-up and the winner of Miss Mango Tree 2018 by the members of the jury are:
