ZANUSSI CERAMIC GLASS HOB

 by: MisS VictoriA DaviD

New is better and more efficient!

Four years ago, my four-burner hob was replaced with a new one. It was needed as most of the rotary knobs were loose, thus controlling the power of each zone was getting unmanageable. To be more specific, the 'aged' one made me irritable as turning on & off was very troublesome.

I had a chit chat with the electrician...

Late in the afternoon or before they came around to the house, I received a call. The man on the other line was the electrician who was also a qualified appliances installer. He just verified the problem and confirmed the time they (him and his assistant) will surprise me.

They arrived with a sealed square box and as if they were hiding the new hob from me (why?) to moderate my reaction. LOL! The assistant mangled the box and I was presented with a ceramic glass hob. Primarily, it has four burners with various cooking zones and sensitive sensor fields.

I left the kitchen for awhile to make them homely. Before they left, I had a conversation with Mr. Electrician regarding people who are now millionaires and successful businessmen. I thought he was just a typical worker who will just knock at the door, ask about the problem(s) and fix the job, specifically. Surprisingly, he wasn’t! He knew the facts and stories behind the success of these people who are usually seen/read in money magazines. Two of the reasons why they are not that famous like actors because their stories were placed inconspicuously and written in small fonts as well. HOW PRETTY SAD!!!

I didn't burst into tears after seeing the well fitted zanussi ceramic glass hob in the kitchen. I kept my feeling concealed while they were still in the house. The design impresses me, very nifty, and the efficiency is making my cooking skills for years to date more manageable and enjoyable!!!

THE GAFFER'S GARDEN IN THE SUMMER

by: MisS VictoriA DaviD

A gentle voice with an almost feminine intensity greets and welcomes me at their doorstep with the delightful phrase, 'You look so fantastic, Darling!'. The person behind the voice is a man whom I called, The Gaffer.

In 2008 on my first visit to England, the first person I met in the flesh who really made me very comfortable is a good friend named, The Gaffer. A big man with bulky muscles like Arnold Schwarzenegger that he has developed over the years by spending time at his exclusive gym. Though he has huge biceps, he has a soft spot too! That is shown when it comes to raising plants and yielding healthy new growth from his garden.

I have been visiting his home for years and every time I was there, I was fascinated by his collections of healthy plants. Honestly, when I plan to go there I always look forward to seeing his varieties of plants. They are more than enough to warm me and gratify the nature side in me too.

The front garden is what I prefer more as it has bundles of scarlet red geraniums which appear like a red carpet. Enough to compare it to the red carpet at the Academy Awards, trodden on by famous celebrities in the showbiz world. On the other hand, the rear garden has more to offer because this is where you can see more of his creations.

One of the structures that he erected is a Victorian glass house. This provides a home for his wide range of cacti and delicate plants that usually won't survive the cold weather in England. The glass house itself could be used as a spare room as it has roof ventilator, shelving brackets, single sliding door including door catch and many more accessories.

I can still remember in the summer, his rear garden was ornamented with freshly blooming flowers. All were growing robustly with vivid colours which were very engrossing to my eyes. When I visited him one day in the summer, I was wearing a colourful maxi dress and surprisingly, one of his small flowers matched the design of my garment. And because of that he took a picture of me while standing above those flowers. In the end, they resembled an extension of my floral maxi dress in the picture.

I appreciate the beautiful transformation of their gardens and admire the effort he has made to make their gardens so very enticing.

THE WHITARD OF CHELSEA'S 4 CUP CAFETIERE

I went into a pub and orderd a large cup of luscious creamy cappuccino, and absorbed the civilised ambiance as well as the magnificent Victorian decorations. In particular, I was impressed by pictures of shire horses- pulling carts full of beer barrels. Apart from that, I watched the locals through the big glass windows coming and going along the high street.

It wasn’t in my plan to visit this working class pub, but I still had extra time before heading back home. I decided to rest my weary feet for a few minutes as I'd been walking up and down the busy high street on a mild sunny day. As far as I was concerned, I only stayed for 20 minutes and after that, I walked uphill towards the bus stop.

Whenever I go out, I love to visit a particular shop just in front of the main entrance of the bus stop. I visited it again and was drawn to a filter coffee maker with its original box. It was in very good condition and at a reasonable price too. I was so lucky but I wasn't that convince about buying it. Then I realised, I badly needed a coffee filter that can be used also to prepare loose tea. So I bought the cafetiere and handed over to the lady the exact amount. She turned out to be Lady de Burgh and told me about the huge fireplace she had just installed at Rosings. But I diverge... LOL!

I was there in the shop to find something for myself and I was a bit disappointed because it wasn’t that fruitful for me. But that day, I didn’t go empty handed as an elegant looking cafetiere manufactured especially for Whittard by Bodum was with me.

The cafetiere is designed with two metal holders which are glued to its cylindrical glass jug as well as connected to the black finish plastic holder. In the box also, was included a rounded dessert spoon and a cork cardboard mat which was shaped and curved perfectly to fit the base of the jug. Moreover, it can provide up to 4 cups of hot beverages which makes it ideal not only for a couple but for a big family too.
