On the 28th of September this year, the 26th anniversary catwalk contest of the WayOut Club entitled Miss Alternative London took place at the Minories in London, United Kingdom. It was organised by the inspirational Miss Vicky Lee and bolstered by her closest hard working collaborators. They produced a dazzling spectacle which was attended by a swarm of LGBTQIA+ community members, admirers and compatible people. The Alternative Miss London 2019 took place late at night. Taking part was a set of eager and flambouyant hopefuls. Generally speaking, each contestant had the opportunity to don herself in 3 categorised semblances. One by one they walked onto the improvised red carpet that was fastened and placed on the dance floor. They emerged from their tightly secured dressing room and swung around in front of the jury and the frisky crowd. Yes, there was "red ceremonial carpet" with crowd control stanchions that provided an unrestricted space for each contestant to prance back & forth. This was the replacement for the conventional and demountable 12-foot long platform stage with LED lights on the dance floor. Personally speaking, it was an avant-garde undertaking and a brilliantlly embracing arrangement!

During the event, the familiar and sophisticated Miss Alexandra Marie Diaz who has been single- handedly hosting the event since 2014 was unable to attend due to personal commitments. That is why, the inspirational Miss Vicky Lee stepped into her shoes and delivered the affairs with aplomb. When Miss Vicky began holding the floor, signalling the start of proceedings for the contest, she called upon the presence of Miss Geyzhel Sparke to express her gratitude for her invaluable support and reinforcement. Thereafter, the members of the jury and the tabulator were introduced beginning with Miss Natasha Mckenzie- Daniels of Ted's Place; Doctor Woof of X Factor 2017 and the 'Cancer is a Drag' ambassador; the multi pageant title holder, Miss SaHHara; Miss Alex Ceciliato of Roma TV/TS Party in London and Lesly, the proficient recorder of the scores. They were all stationed on a roomy elevated section of the dance floor rather than the regular cramming spot with closed proximity to the conventional platform stage. Personally speaking, this change of layout was a wise plan as the members of the jury could attentively see and clearly view each contestant's creativity, seductiveness and elegance.

Without further ado, here are the contestants wearing their first semblance on the red carpet. It's their scintillating CREATIVE COSTUMES which were carefully remodelled.

After the appearance of the last contestant, Miss Jolie Cooper, the red carpet was then taken over by Miss Vicky Lee. After emphasizing the resourcefulness of the candidates and appreciating the ecstatic numbers of people, a first intermission number from the Dragqueen Showgirl Entertainer, Katt Kitten, took place. She invigorated the crowd with her vocal version of the late Whitney Houston's “Queen of the Night”.

The contestants dressing room door opened for the second category, SEXY COSTUME, and contestant number 1, Miss Iwa Moto, emanated wearing her evoking ensemble. In this category, the eagle eyed crowd witnessed an on cloud nine mutual promise of a later marriage to contestant number 3, Miss Tiana Delosata. After she won the hearts of everybody, especially her handsome boyfriend, she was named the Queen of Hearts during the proclamation of AML 2019 runners-up and the reigning Queen .

For the verve in the crowd to sustain, Miss Geyzhel Sparkes lifted up her voice. She supplemented the crowd with her glamorous boogie rendition of “Aint Nobody (Loves Me Better)” song by Jasmine Thompson.

Miss Geyzhel's delivered number gave sufficient time for the contestants to glamorously restyle themselves. Each winsomely came into the light wearing monochromatic serpentine floor length EVENING GOWNS. Additionally, this was when the common question, “What is your wish for the World?”, was asked by Miss Vicky Lee to each contestant and their prepared written answers were also articulated by her. I have to say that contestant number 2, Miss Jade Chloe Calolong, was very coquettish in her embellished fringe sleeves see-through appliqué evening gown.

It was already in the wee hours of the morning and the crowd's peppy energy was still ascending. More so, when the “phoenix” urban pop singer, Miss Geri Love, influenced the dance floor with her “Love You Like A Love Song” by Selena Gomez.

What an ignitable emote voice Miss Geri has. Actually, her performance didn't just earn applause but also drew in a generous benefactor. After her bouncy performance, the 2018 Queen of Alternative Miss London, Miss Nicole Williams, was called upon by Miss Vicky Lee for her short and sweet farewell message. A finesse Queen who was very classy and stylish in her all pearly white motif.

Thenceforth, the Alternative Miss London 2019 runners-up and the Queen were declared by unanimous decision. To be more specific, the winner (runners-up and the Queen) was individually announced and called on to the red carpet to exclusively hold the spotlight and cherish her victory.

The Alternative Miss London 2019 catwalk contest may not have acquired a large numbers of contestants. However, the overall outcome- from night until the wee hours of the morning- had an affable & engaging feeling and more importantly, it filled the stomping ground with love. Not to mention, the battle of the contestants for the coveted crown/title was compassionate and never overshadowed by a pernicious strife!

ALTERNATIVE MISS LONDON: WHO WILL WEAR THE 2019 CROWN

In 1993, the WayOut Club was founded and formed by Miss Vicky Lee and Stephan Whitffield. For the past years to date, the venue for this regular Saturday nightclub at the Minories in London has been operating for and welcoming the LGBTQIA+ community members; their admirers and compatible people. The club at the Minories in London is a comforting place which has a modernised heated beer garden; indoor drinking space; a fair-sized dance floor and security bouncers. Moreover, it has been operating as the main venue for the WayOut Club's annual catwalk contest entitled Alternative Miss London. 

Historically speaking, the Alternative Miss London event was created/founded in 1992 by the late co-founder and performer extraordinaire, Stephan Whitfield. Ever since then, this catwalk contest at the the WayOut Club has been the core eye-opener in sharing and unfolding its mission in London and beyond. It has been essentially showing how naturally beautiful, resourcefully creative and innately intelligent the transgender, transitioning and in full bloom, women are on and off stage.

For the past weeks to date, Miss Vicky Lee and her supportive family have been updating their social media accounts for the approaching 26th year anniversary of Alternative Miss London. An annual night catwalk contest for the beguiling candidates who will stupefyingly appear and swagger on stage. More importantly, it will become a significant show of remembrance to the founder and performer extraordinaire, Stephan Whitfield.

The candidates have confirmed and sealed their applications for Miss Amazing Midlands 2017. So, who will become the sole successor to claim the crown of Miss Venus Petra Moutney?

It only took a week for Dayanara Marques de Araneta Productions to search and endorse their 14 confirmed candidates who will fairly soon brandish their elegance and winsomeness on stage. The pageantry for these sophisticated candidates of Miss Amazing Midlands 2017 will grace the crowd with 5 different yet pleasurable categories. Such as, the Philippine traditional dress worn on formal occasions, the FILIPINIANA TERNO, together with the unrestrained and extravagantly imaginative outfit called, FANTASY, as well as their appliqué figure hugging EVENING GOWNS. They will also electrify us with their unknown and unrevealed TALENTS and more importantly, impress us on the hysterically spurring INTERVIEW.

MISS AMAZING MIDLANDS 2017

“Pinch punch for the first of the month” and yes, we just arrived at the 3rd month of 2017. Who knows whether most of you, including myself, have been doing engaging stuff and/or have been productive? Does it include gossiping on Facebook and keeping an eye on the 'well-watched' world news? All I can say is, one of many interesting nationwide topics and events to have appeared on my Facebook account was the Miss Amazing Midlands 2017.

A beauty pageant celebrating its 2nd year with the theme, "The quest for the crown begins...", which aims to influence sophisticated and enthusiastic transgender women to become candidates. Why quest for the crown? Its because this spectacle of talents, beauty and brain will quest for its sole triumphant and legitimate queen amongst the contenders. Does it sound very magisterial? Absolutely, it does especially because of the woman behind this event who herself has overcome many battles and has been cherishing victory in life, Miss Dayanara Mesmeize. 

The willing candidates will compete on stage and in front of a huge lively crowd. They will be impartially judge by a jury; on their way to ambitiously winning the title, Miss Amazing Midlands 2017. The sole winner; spirited runners-up and deserving special awardees will bring home crowns, cash prizes, sashes, trophies and victory in their heart of hearts. But the big question is, who will be this year's very eager applicants to compete on the 08th of July? They will compete in front of a big audience who might well expect and hope for the inevitable gaffes!

THE NIGHT OF ALTERNATIVE MISS LONDON 2016

She was elegantly fierce in her lion inspired outfit... She was magnificently radiant in her embroidered royal blue gown... She now epitomises and wears the crown of this year's Alternative Miss London! 

There were 11 fabulous contestants who competed on stage with determination and 4 fair-minded members of the jury who assessed their performances, for this year's Alternative Miss London. 

When I entered the man-made bricked venue of The Minories, it was simple but all set and ready for the pageant to commence. There was an inconspicuous display of partial giveaways for the winners; sat on a round table and just in front of the admission area. Such as, the colourful flowers in paper bags; violet sashes in silvery white prints; chilled champagne in coolers and glasses as well as the stature mini Trophies. 

The audience were enthusiastically mingling while most of the eagle eyed admirers were sauntering around with drinks in their hands and looking for ideal spots. On the other hand, the energetic supporters were enjoying the loud  music on the dance floor while wiggling their bumpy booties as well as their softish bodies. Others were outside and simply enjoying the reviving beer garden's fresh air. 

On the dance floor's wall, a projector was displaying people's images especially the women who were involved in the past years Alternative Miss London. There was also a distressed dark walnut table with 5 matching chairs on the side of the dance floor for the jury and a tabulator to take over. Moreover, a 12-foot long platform was laid and accentuated with blue LED lights for the candidates to walk on during the competition. 

It was already past midnight when Miss Vicky Lee took over the DJ's booth to welcome us all and acknowledge the appearances of relevant people. She was very dazzling in her A line above-the-knee emerald green sequence dress. It was a powerful welcome which was also an indication that the beauty pageant would commence soon. Apart from her, this was also the opening appearance of her co-hostess, Alexandra Marie Diaz, who was wearing a halter neck backless flowery bodycon dress. 

The cheerful Alexandra took over the stage and especially thanked the sponsors and warmly introduced the night's members of the jury as well as the tabulator. Namely, Geyzhel Sparks , The WayOut's superstar supporter, photographer and singer; the reigning Alternative Miss London 2015 Alessandra Mae; the supportive Mark Danaher; the Alternative Miss London 2015's Miss Congeniality Lorenna Danaher and Lesly as the recorder of scores. I have to say they all looked serious yet very comfortable with their pencils and papers.

Before the pageant began proper, we were all asked to gather up closer to the stage and sing wholeheartedly to the tune of Happy Birthday. This was for the inspirational Miss Vicky Lee. Yes, it was also Miss Vicky Lee's natal day. She has been tirelessly supporting the LGBTQI+ community and continuously uplifting/safeguarding The WayOut Club's reputation.

The overflowing greetings continued while the candidates were back stage anxiously waiting for their appearances on stage. When all of a sudden, the headlights were on which glorified the path of the stage. One by one, the candidates emerged and awed us all in their Fantasy Creative Wear. Their outfits were indeed combined products of imaginative and visionary minds. Actually, I adored all of the creations especially from Fabiola of Australia and Samantha of Brazil. I loved their creativity, courage and determination while on stage. We should not forget that their appearances on stage was made dramatic by the ingenious DJ Titch (Jay Mac) who manipulated the catwalk music and DJ Gary Baldi who looked after the colourful headlights.

Their creations earned standing ovations and loud applause from the audience. They headed back to the dressing room to prepare for the next round. Our energy levels were kept high spirited when Miss Katt Kitten sang 2 dynamic songs. She made most of us sing and dance with her peppy voice and her own rendition of Jesse J's song.

The hostess, Alexandra Marie Diaz, was back on stage to introduce the candidates to flaunt their provocatively hot figures. This was the Sexy Outfit round in which the artistic two-piece with armoured and shawl adornments as well as fetish clothing were worn individually and invitingly. 

 

 

Quite sexy and hot however we calmed down a bit when they went back in the dressing room for retouching and coaching. The stage was taken over once again by Alexandra but with the special appearance of her co-hostess, Miss Vicky Lee. We engaged with them but were more engaged when Miss Huggy McGuire and Miss Geyzhel Sparks sang 2 songs and performed Donna Summer's 1980 Hot Stuff.

They, Miss Huggy McGuire and Miss Geyzhel Sparks, exhilarated us and kept our anticipation calm for the candidate's final round. The attentive hostesses held the microphones once again for the vibrant, flowy and silhouette sequence Long Gown competition to lead off. 

 

 

Each candidate had their grandstand appearance on stage with their long gowns on. A few minutes after the appearance of the last candidate, they were all called and embraced closely with one another on stage. This was when they were asked to recompose their selves before doing the traditional 360 degree turn around; by facing the jury at 180 degree and then facing back the audience. After this they all headed back to the dressing room. While the audience's focus and attention was handed over to Miss Huggy McGuire who delivered her own shining version of Rihanna's Diamonds.

It is a common practice in every beauty pageant that the last year's queen will have her own farewell walk and speech. This is when her beauty will be seen once again by admirers and her composure on stage to be appreciated by supporters. That is why the Alternative Miss London 2015, Alessandra Mae, made her final walk and blew us all away in her floor-length 'very' see through glistening backless gown.

After the unhindered farewell walk of Alessandra Mae, the special awardee; runners-up and the Alternative Miss London 2016 were revealed and declared:

Beauty queens are trained to compete and made to win, but they were once ordinary women who have striven to be who they are now. On the other hand, some women are still metamorphosing. When we greatly value their courage and determination we are helping them to mould themselves as beauty queens. We should all not forget humility and understanding even though we may be more beautiful and even more feminine than others. It is because, we were once like them?
